I own ‘Ballytrim’, a 2006 Swan 53. Pete has skippered the boat for me on a number of occasions including deliveries from Port Grimaud to Sardinia and the Swan World Cup, Port Grimaud to Malta, and Port Grimaud to the British Virgin Islands. On all occasions he has demonstrated not only his huge sailing experience and knowledge but also his ability to diagnose and fix problems that have arisen. Pete has proven totally trustworthy and competent to look after the boat. In all cases ‘Ballytrim’ was returned in better working order and condition than when she left with full condition report, notes of issues and actions taken.
On one occasion there was a serious engine problem, due to faulty maintenance by the yard in Villefranche, on route down to Malta. This necessitated sailing the boat into Olbia with limited power, organising local engineers, sourcing spare parts, and supervising the work being carried out. This proved to be a very significant and frustrating task and Pete stuck with it. He ensured that everything was done properly, and the problem was fixed. He kept detailed notes and photographs which have been invaluable in the subsequent claim against the yard. Pete has also helped source spares in the UK and given advice on maintenance issues. I cannot recommend him more highly.

“Peter Stirling was the skipper for the delivery passage of our Hallberg-Rassy 50 from Ellos, Sweden to Kiel, Germany and back to Henan, Sweden, a distance of 535 nautical miles.
The purpose of the voyage was to transfer the ownership of the vessel from the former owner to myself and to undertake a sea trial of the yacht. My wife and I were on board for the passage and were very impressed with Pete's skills as a skipper as well as his detailed knowledge of the Hallberg-Rassy yachts and areas we sailed through.
We have owned yachts previously but nothing as large or complex as the Hallberg-Rassy 50, so Pete’s presence was very reassuring. We have no hesitation in recommending Pete and his company ‘PSA Prime Marine’ for any marine related services you may require.”

It goes without saying that the shipping in the English Channel Traffic Separation Scheme and in the Thames estuary was remarkable, that navigating the Thames Barrier was interesting and that being in a boat in the shadow of Tower Bridge was amazing.......anyway, what I really want to comment on is my experience of crewing for Pete. He was an amazing skipper. We arrived safely and with no stress. He explained everything as we were going along and I really benefited from his experience. The owner is a much more experienced sailor than I am - and I could tell that Pete was tailoring his coaching, advice and commentary to suit.
